LONG ISLAND CITY — A dispute between two men on the Fourth of July turned violent after one pulled a gun on the other, shooting him in the leg and stomach, according to the NYPD.

Police say the assailant and the 35-year-old victim were arguing opposite 38-38 Vernon Blvd., near 38th Avenue, just after 9 p.m. when the dispute turned physical.

The suspect — believed to be between 20 and 30 years old — shot the man in his left leg and stomach, according to police. The victim was taken to Cornell Medical Center for treatment.

The NYPD did not have additional details on what spurred the argument, or if the two men knew each other.

The gunman was last seen wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, black shorts and black sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
