The Astor Room located in the Kaufman Astoria Studios campus is hosting an elegant First Anniversary Oscar soiree on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Celebrate the year’s best films at a supper club filled with memories of a bygone film era. Guests can walk the red carpet before entering the Astor Room’s birthday celebration at the first anniversary cocktail hour where servers will be waiting with a champagne toast to thank patrons for their loyalty to the Astor Room.
Following the red carpet arrivals and cocktail hour, guests will be seated for a $60 pre fixe dinner while enjoying the live Oscar telecast. Menu items feature classics such as Oyster Astor and Short Rib Stroganoff as well as prohibition-era cocktails such as the Mary Pickford.
The Astor Room, celebrating its first anniversary this month, was the former private , commissary for Kaufman Astoria Studios and was often visited by film stars Rudolph Valentino, Gloria Swanson, the Marx Brothers, the Gish sisters and W.C. Fields. With a nod to one of New York’s founding families, as well as to its bustling Astoria location, The Astor Room, has been restored to its former old-New York film era glory and is now a Supper Club destination serving up decadent old-school New York fare, flawlessly executed classic New York inspired cocktails at the “Beaver Bar” and live music nightly.
