Man Found Beaten to Death at Long Island City Gas Station Updated 2 hrs ago

By amol on September 6, 2012

LONG ISLAND CITY — A man was found beaten to death in front of a Queens gas station early Thursday, officials said.

Cops found Flushing resident Oscar Arzeno on the ground in front of a Gulf gas station at 53-26 Van Dam St., near Review Avenue in Long Island City, about 6 a.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Emergency responders rushed the 28-year-old victim to Elmhurst Hospital where he died a short time later, the police spokeswoman said.

Surveillance video shows a man in white shorts and a dark shirt walking around the gas station throwing paper on the ground.

A man identified by witnesses as a gas station attendant exits the office to confront the man, and the two begin to argue.

At one point the argument spills onto the street and out of view of the camera.

The gas station’s owner, Jervail Singh, who was not present at the time, said he was told the death followed a fight over a broken ATM machine.

Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old man has been taken into custody and charges were pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
