An Art Project That Makes Taking Long Walks on the Beach Less Cheesy

By amol on August 8, 2012

The Long Island City-based artist collective Flux Factory has teamed up with The Walk Exchange for artist Dillon de Give‘s latest work, Long Walks on the Beach, to give you a chance to live out the ultimate cliche with a stranger.

The public project will pair volunteers at random to take a long walk on Rockaway Beach on August 25th and 26th: “This is an experience-based artwork that used walking as it medium.”

And that experience may just be your chance to meet your soulmate. Or one-upping frenemy. Either way, walkers will be able to share “important conversational insights” on a broadcast station during the weekend.

Interested? Call! (917) 300-9521. Be ready to give your availability for the weekend.  And hurry: it’s first call, first served

This will be the first in a seasonal series of dual ‘stranger’ walks on which Flux Factory and The Walk Exchange are collaborating, as well as part of Flux Factory’s fall 2013 exhibition, Untitled (As of Yet), “a group show about unexpected circumstances, the breakdown of routine, and displacement as a potential fruitful phenomenon.” Walk on.
