Roosevelt Island Pier Could Get Solid Dining Options

Tonight, Community Board 8 will review a liquor license application for Roosevelt Island’s Subway Pier waterfront. The waterfront was awarded the right to operate a temporary food concession at the Subway Pier from the local Riverwalk Bar Grill. The space, which was described by its owners on the Roosevelt Islander blog as being, “very run down and underused,” will get a revamp.

Today, news breaks that two new restaurants are joining the waterfront ranks for the summer months. Both John Brown Smokehouse of Long Island City and chef David Santos, most recently Hotel Griffou and his own Um Segredo supper club, will work to bring some new dining options to The Pier. Although menus have not been decided on, John Brown will most likely offer barbecue and their signature brisket, while Santos will create seafood-centric fare like raw oysters, shrimp cocktail and lobster rolls. The Request for Proposals which originally denied alcohol at The Pier and limited seating to 30 has been lifted. A decision for the new concessions should be reached this evening.
