A gigantic music venue is coming to Long Island City

By amol on June 30, 2018

Listen up, Long Island City: A huge music venue plans to open up your way by early next year. Set in a refurbished warehouse that dates back to the early 1930s, The Arc will have two performance spaces (an intimate one holding about 400 peeps, and a larger one holding about 1,700), a 24-hour cafe that, to quote the spot’s publicist, “captures the flavor of Queens,” as well as a recording studio, all spread out over 20,000 square feet. (That’s roughly the size of East Williamsburg fave Brooklyn Steel, to give you an idea.) Yesterday, it was announced that Rich Pawelczyk, Webster Hall’s former executive vice president, will be The Arc’s chief operating officer, and they’ve been quietly hosting invite-only gigs to break in its digs at 36-30 36th Street.

In other big news—cough, about us, cough—Time Out Market New York, our multi-floor, expansive food-and-drink market to end all food-and-drink markets, is set to open on the Dumbo waterfront later this year. Stay tuned for more on that.
