Help plant thousands of daffodils and tulips in Long Island City parks this weekend

By amol on November 2, 2017

For the third year in a row, Long Island City residents will have a chance to beautify their parks by planting thousands of flowers.

The third annual LIC Bulb Fest, hosted by the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, will take place on Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. According to Rob Basch, the president of HPPC, more than 6,300 bulbs will be planted at Hunters Point Parks Conservancy and Gantry Plaza State Park.

Volunteers will meet by the train tracks at Hunters Point South Park at the corner of 51st Street and Center Boulevard and then make their way to Gantry Plaza State Park.

Children are also encouraged to participate. An artist will provide free face painting and refreshments will be provided by LIC Landing by COFEED.

So far, more than 8,500 bulbs have been planted and Saturday’s planting will bring that total to 15,000 bulbs at both parks. The Van Zyverden Company donated the bulbs and the event will last approximately two to three hours.

For more information contact Rob Basch at [email protected].
