A parking lot in Long Island City, Queens, is about to see a lot more foot traffic. The cars will be replaced by children at 40-11 28th Street, where a new public school is going to be built, right next to the existing Newcomers High School. The developer and architect will be the NYC School Construction Authority.

The proposed building will be four stories, totaling 217,480 square feet. With a height of 68 feet, each room should have plenty of space. Along with classrooms and offices, the school will have a cafeteria in the cellar, a library on the first floor, and a gymnasium on the second floor. The site is within walking distance to the N, R, F, and M trains.

A completion date has not been announced.
