NYPD Sgt. Arrested for Pulling Gun on Cyclist and Knocking Him Over: Police

By amol on September 25, 2017

QUEENS — An off-duty NYPD sergeant was arrested Thursday morning for nearly hitting a cyclist while making an illegal U-turn, pulling his gun on the man and then pushing him off his bike in southwestern Queens, police said.

Bradley Beamer, a 12-year NYPD veteran in the Detective Bureau, was making an illegal U-turn when he almost hit the cyclist near Queens Plaza North and 24th Street, an NYPD spokeswoman said. He was arrested just before 6 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Beamer and the cyclist started arguing, so the sergeant pulled his gun on the cyclist, police said.

The sergeant briefly left, but then returned to push the cyclist off his bike, police said.

The cyclist suffered cuts to his legs, but wasn’t treated at a hospital, police said.

Beamer was issued a desk appearance ticket and released, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.
