The Forge

September 1, By Jason Cohen

Apartments are now available in a 38-story luxury building in the Court Square section of Long Island City.

The building, called ‘The Forge“, is located across the street from the SculptureCenter at 44-28 Purves Street and consists of 272 luxury apartments.  The developers, Brause Realty Inc. and the Gotham Organization, have started leasing the units.

The building offers its residents a host of amenities including a 50-foot outdoor pool, a rooftop sky lounge and a movie screen. The units come with Feng Shui-certified layouts and feature oak floors, quartz countertops, stainless steel KitchenAid and Bosch appliances, bathrooms with custom penny tile, large closet and storage space and Bosch washer/dryers.

Studio apartments in the Forge have a starting price of $2,485, with one-bedrooms at $3,030 and two-bedrooms at $4,150.

“We are thrilled to launch leasing for this distinguished rental building that offers a new take on urban living within a growing neighborhood five minutes from Midtown Manhattan,” said David Brause, president of Brause Realty, in a statement. “Over the years, Long Island City has transformed from a historically industrial neighborhood into a cultural enclave filled with galleries, museums and artisanal restaurants. It is the perfect community for those looking to move from the bustle and expense of city life.”

In addition to the pool and movie screen, the building comes with several other outdoor amenities, such as a landscaped courtyard and Sculpture Garden, hammock park, a “back yard” for fitness activities, a summer kitchen with grills and dining area, and an outdoor rooftop terrace with skyline views of the East River and Manhattan,

The building is also packed with plenty of indoor amenities, including the rooftop sky lounge, a business bar, a children’s playroom, a private party room, a dining area, a fitness center and on-site parking with electric charging stations.

Several Long Island City artists will also have their artwork featured throughout the building.

For instance, a hanging installation by artist Kate Newby — whose work was recently showcased at the SculptureCenter— will be on permanent display. It features antique glass bottles that were found during the excavation of the construction site.

The Forge is described as an eco-friendly building that comes with energy-efficient systems and LEED certified materials. The building also uses a wind turbine and solar panels for supplemental electricity and there is an irrigation system that utilizes captured rainwater for the landscaped spaces.

“The Forge really is a ‘village within a building,’” said David Picket, president of Gotham Organization. “Residents have access to an abundance of amenities and services that make life exciting and convenient, with a scale that feels more like a boutique hotel than a convention center.”
