LONG ISLAND CITY — MoMA PS1’s popular “Warm Up” outdoor concert series returns for the summer on Saturday — set this year beneath a newly-installed canopy that glows after dark.

The installation, “Lumen” by architectural firm Jenny Sabin Studio, opened Thursday and features two large canopies made from more than a million yards of fiber draped over the museum’s courtyard. The structure will mist visitors with water and light up after sunset, according to a press release.

The piece was selected earlier this year as the winner of MoMA PS1’s annual Young Architects Program, which challenges participants to design an installation that provides shade, water and seating to “Warm Up” concert-goers.

The annual live music series takes place every Saturday through Sept. 2, kicking off this weekend with performances by the Scottish DJ Jackmaster, DJ EZ, Tiger Woods and more.

Tickets cost $18 in advance, or $22 the day of the event.
