In rental-packed Long Island City, affordable apartments from $908/month now available

By amol on May 13, 2017

Located just a short walk away from the Citigroup Building, this Handel Architects-designed rental has just launched the lottery [PDF!] on its 34 affordable apartments, 6sqft first reported.

Watermark Court Square, as this development is known, features a total of 168 apartments, and the affordable units here start from $908 per month. The affordable apartments come in studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms, though there are just five affordable two bedrooms, and the rest are pretty much equally divided.

The apartments are open to people making anywhere from $33,018 to $57,240, and half of the affordable units here have been set aside for residents who currently live within the boundaries of Queens Community Board 2.

The rental, which is located at 27-19 44th Street (a.k.a. 44-16 Purves Street), and stands 27 stories tall, topped out last August, and construction has been making steady progress since. While pricing on the market-rate rentals hasn’t been released yet, the first set of residents are expected to move in this July, so that won’t be far off in the future either.

Developed by Twining Properties, this building also comes with a 2,500-square-foot retail space at the base. Future residents here will be able to look forward to amenities like a laundry room, a gym, bike storage, a work lounge, and a rooftop deck, among other features. For the affordable rentals, prospective tenants have until June 14 of this year to apply.

This rental is located in close proximity of two other new developments—another 27-story building known as The Harrison, and the FXFOWLE-designed, The Forge.
