More than 10,000 visitors are expected Saturday at the 4th annual LIC Springs Community Festival. Vernon Boulevard will be closed to traffic and the unique street fair between 46th and 50th avenues, will take place from 12 to 5 p.m.

The Long Island City Partnership and the Department of Transportation’s Weekend Walks Program host the block party with live music, dance and theater performances plus interactive lessons, art and sculpture-making, fitness classes, outdoor dining, eating contests for kids and adults, and pop-up activities.

“The LIC Springs block party is a great occasion to bring our community together for a day of family-friendly fun that showcases everything LIC has to offer,” LIC Partnership President Elizabeth Lusskin said. “The event features a mix of restaurants, cultural institutions, community groups and artists that reflect the diverse talent and offerings of LIC.”

The event will mark the debut of the LIC Springs Eyes on the Street Video Contest on Instagram. Submissions will be judged on their ability to showcase the range of activities featured at the block party as well as dynamic movement and artistry.

To be considered, post to Instagram by May 7 and include the hashtag #LICSPRINGS and tag @LICQNS. The winner will be announced May 12 and will receive a Long Island City-themed prize package, including a gift certificate to Crab House, one eight-week session of a program class at the Long Island City YMCA, two complimentary passes for admission to MoMA PS1 art institution, and a gift certificate to SacredWaters.
