LONG ISLAND CITY — A man tried to rob a bank in Queensboro Plaza but fled empty handed after the teller refused his demand to hand over cash, according to the NYPD.

The suspect walked into the Chase Bank branch at 25-15 Queens Plaza at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22 and handed a note to the bank teller demanding money, police said.

But the teller refused, walking away from the window, according to police. The would-be thief then fled.

The man is described as between 45 and 50 years old, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 150 pounds, according to the NYPD. He was wearing jeans, a black jacket and a Yankees hat.

The same Chase bank branch was also robbed in January when another suspect passed a note to a teller and made of with $1,000, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
