LONG ISLAND CITY, Queens — A private contractor died after a forklift pinned him against a van in a FDNY auto repair shop Saturday afternoon.

The man, who has been identified as Rakesh Ram, 28, was loading a van about 12:35 p.m. at the auto repair shop on Review Avenue, police said. The forklift slid down an incline and pinned him against the van.

Officials found him unconscious and unresponsive when they arrived at the scene.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
