Man Snatches 20 Cellphones From Long Island City Store, Police Say

By amol on January 16, 2017

LONG ISLAND CITY — Police are looking for a man who robbed a cellphone store in Queensbridge earlier this month, taking off with hundreds of dollars in cash and 20 phones.

The suspect entered the MetroPCS store at 13-05 40th Ave. near 13th Street shortly before noon on Jan. 5, and demanded a shop worker show him the cellphones, according to the NYPD.

The man then swiped about 20 phones as well as between $300 and $400 in cash, police said.

He’s described as in his mid to late-30s, and was last seen wearing glasses and all black, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
