Thief steals 20 cellphones and cash from Long Island City MetroPCS

Police are looking for a man who stole hundreds of dollars and about 20 cellphones from a MetroPCS store in Long Island City.

On Jan. 5 at 11:37 a.m., he entered the store at 13-05 40 Ave. and demanded cash from an employee. He took $300 to $400 in cash and also demanded that the employee show him where the cellphones are kept, police said. The suspect then stole 20 cellphones.

Police describe him as a black male in his 30s wearing glasses, black pants and a black sweater.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
