A group of Long Island City artists will get the chance to show off their work over the course of the next month.
LIC Artists, a non-profit membership group that promotes art and puts on exhibits throughout the year, is holding its Fall Member Art Show beginning Tuesday, displaying the work of more than 40 local artists.
The show will have a wide range of artwork including paintings, sculpture, mixed media, and more, according to LIC Artists President Carol Crawford. “Each artist has several works, so that visitors can better understand and appreciate the style and medium each artist uses to convey meaning,” she said.
With such a wide range of works, “The idea is that it should show our diversity,” Crawford said.
The show will begin tomorrow night with an opening celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Plaxall building at 5-25 46th Avenue.
Open to the public, the opening night will have entertainment including Brazilian Jazz, a comedy performance by theater group Dirt Contained, and a performance by singer-songwriter Juliana Carr. The event will also have food and free drinks.
The show will run from November 22 through December 22, and will host a variety of mostly-free events throughout its run, including drawing workshops and staged play readings, put on by volunteers from LIC Artists.
There will also be a closing event on the final night of the exhibition.
