Chipotle will officially open in Long Island City on Saturday, Sept. 24 …

By amol on September 9, 2016

Nine months after we reported that a Chipotle may be coming to Long Island City, the franchise has finally confirmed that it will open its fourth Queens location on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Chipotle signed a lease at 26-14 Jackson Ave., a mixed-use 14-story property that was still under construction last December when the news leaked.

According to spokeswoman Danielle Moore, the Mexican restaurant will be open from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Its other locations include Jackson Heights, which opened in December 2015, Forest Hills and at Queens Center mall in Elmhurst. The chain is known for serving a small menu and sourcing “responsibly raised meat,” organic and non-GMO vegetables and pasture raised dairy.

Chipotle made headlines last year and in the beginning of 2016 when its stores experienced an e. coli outbreak. Approximately 14 states were affected and the chain closed down 43 of its locations in Washington and Oregon in November 2015 and reopened them after health officials to examine the outbreak.

To regain some of its customers, the chain has announced special promotions and a rewards card.

LIC Post first reported the opening date.
