Long Island City’s high-rise boom just keeps going. Plans for the latest tall tower in the neighborhood call for a 700-foot tower with 921 residential units at 43-30 24th St in the area’s Court Square sub-district.

It’ll total 66 stories and take up a full block, with 883k SF of residential space and 17,400 SF of ground-floor retail in an immediate area that doesn’t offer much in the way of shopping, according to NY Yimby. The average residential unit works out to about 900 SF.

Here’s a sign of the times: The place will have parking for more than twice as many bikes as cars (209 for four-wheeled vehicles, and over 500 for those who cruise on two wheels).

Zoning doesn’t require parking spots for residents in transit-rich Long Island City, so the smart money bets at least one of two parking garages included in the project will be a public lot serving the area’s large and growing office tenancy.

Stawski Partners is the developer, and it’s owned the two sites that will become the new development for about the last 15 years. [NYY]
