Have you ever wondered what your neighborhood looks like from a drone’s point of view?
Above New York, a series of videos produced by Viewing NYC, explored the waterfront neighborhood by drone. The video takes viewers on a tour through Silvercup Studios, the Citi Building and the surrounding developments popping up in Court Square, the Queensboro Bridge and Sunnyside Yards.
Matt Coneybeare, the founder and editor of Viewing NYC, said he purchased a drone last year and started filming different parts of New York City. He and his staff chose the neighborhoods to film based on access to rooftops.
“Launching from the street is tough because people either come up to you and ask a ton of questions about flying while we are working, or look at you like a terrorist doing something wrong,” Coneybeare said. “Launching from a rooftop or public park is easier.”
The site is working on a second Long Island City video that will showcase the Hunters Point and the waterfront later this summer.
