By amol on January 20, 2016

Police continue to investigate the shooting of a 24-year-old man at the largest public housing project in North America on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The shooting occurred at the Queensbridge Houses at 40-16 Vernon Blvd. in Long Island City. Police received a call at about 3:40 p.m. Once authorities arrived at the scene, they found that the suspect suffered a graze wound to the head.

He was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital to be treated.

This is reportedly the first shooting of the year at the Queensbridge Houses, a 3,142-unit complex that accommodates about 6,907 residents in two separate buildings. The shooting, which happened on 40th Street, occurred in the North Houses.
