In terms of new development, Long Island City is one of the busiest neighborhoods in New York. According to data from the Long Island City Partnership, there are more than 22,500 new units of housing in the pipeline. Professional construction watcher and Curbed Flickr pool contributor ILNY_ recently caught up on the latest action this past weekend and share photos of eight new developments, including 42-12 28th Street (↑), what could one day be the tallest tower in Queensunless another tower beats it to the punch. It will rise 635 feet and bring 447 apartments to the area by June 2017.
↑ Plans were filed in late August for a 33-story, 270-unit tower at 44-26 Purves Street. Developer Brause Realty purchased the previously stalled site in 2013 at a foreclosure auction.
↑ Work at 29-26 Northern Boulevard has been slow to progress, with the site still being little more than a pile of dirt. Simon Baron Development acquired the property in late 2013 and kept the plans for a 43-story, 415-unit tower with glowing wings on its roof.
↑ Tishman Speyer is developing a colossal three-tower project at Jackson Avenue and Queens Boulevard, and foundation work is currently underway. The development will add 1,789 apartments to the neighborhood.
↑ A 26-story, 115-unit tower is in the works at 27-21 44 Drive. The developer is LIC native Silvercup Properties, and the architect of record is GF55 Partners.
↑ A large, very boxy building under construction at 27-17 42nd Road will bring 184 apartments to the market.
↑ Developer Ekstein hired architecture and architecture firm GF55 Partners to create a nine-story, 86-unit building at 25-21 43rd Avenue. It will have an exoskeleton base and be complete b 2017.
↑ And finally, here’s 42-60 Crescent Street, a nearly-complete building that just launched sales. It has 37 units and prices start at $670,000.
