HUNTERS POINT — A new outdoor cafe is coming soon to the Long Island City waterfront.
LIC Landing is set to open next week under the pavilion at Hunters Point South Park, where patrons will be able to dine and drink before sweeping views of Manhattan.
The open-air eatery is by the same owners of COFFEED, a popular eco-friendly cafe with its flagship location at 37-18 Northern Blvd.
Jie Kang, one of COFFEED’s co-founders and the chief strategy officer for LIC Landing, said they are planning to have the new site open by Memorial Day Weekend, though an exact date hasn’t been set.
“We’re super excited,” he said, saying that LIC Landing will offer items similar to COFFEED, like coffee drinks and pastries, in addition to burgers, hot sandwiches and ice cream. They’ll also serve wine and craft beer, including locally-sourced brews from places like Astoria’s SingleCut Beersmiths.
The eatery will have seating for 160 people. Most customers will get their food from a walk-up window, though there will also be some table service available, Kang said.
Like COFFEED, which donates part of its proceed to local charities, LIC Landing will give a portion of its revenue to the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, a neighborhood group that maintains and promotes both Hunter’s Point Park South and Gantry Plaza State Park.
