Missing boy’s whereabouts still unknown

By amol on October 12, 2013

avonte-oquendoThe 14-year-old boy who went missing in Long Island City on Friday has NOT been found, despite reports that he had been spotted him in Harlem this afternoon.

Authorities initially said that Avonte Oquendo, the missing boy, had been found. But within minutes of the announcement, police said they had made a mistake and that the child was not Oquendo.

Oquendo, who has autism, was last seen leaving Center Boulevard School, which is located at 1-50 51st Avenue, around 12:30 p.m Friday. Police have been searching subway tunnels and local hospitals, according to reports, after he didn’t appear over the weekend.
