On August 28, Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer and Lorraine Grillo, president of the School Construction Authority (SCA), toured one of District 26’s newest schools, Academies of Film and Television/Hunters Point South Community M.S. in Long Island City. The Long Island City school is just one of five new schools currently coming online and will be opening this September. Since taking office in 2010, Van Bramer has worked closely with SCA and the community to secure five locations to address overcrowding issues at schools in Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside and Astoria.
