A truck caught fire at around 10 am on the Queensboro Bridge this morning temporarily shutting down traffic on the lower level in both directions.

The FDNY has not yet determined what caused an 18-wheel truck to catch fire on the Manhattan-bound side of the bridge. There were no injuries from the blaze, which took place in the cab.

The flames were brought under control by firefighters in about 15 minutes. This is the second truck fire on the bridge in less than a month. On August 16, a truck caught fire on the bridge, sending out heavy smoke and stopping traffic for hours.

In this incident, the The Upper level was not affected and the Queens-bound lower level has reopened. The Manhattan-bound lower level, however, remains closed at this time.
