A public Rally for Religious Freedom will be held Saturday, September 8th in Garden City to oppose the HHS Mandate.
One of a series of events held throughout Long Island, the rally is expected to draw hundreds of faithful citizens as a public witness in defense of religious freedom. The protest is a prayerful demonstration against government imposition of contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in mandated employer health plans.
As written the HHS Mandate requires all employers, including Catholic and other religious charities, hospitals, and schools to provide free contraceptives and abortion drugs. August 1st started a one year period during which the Catholic Church must decide how it will violate its conscience as Americans with First Amendment rights.
Participants will pray and/or stand in silent witness with posters reading, “America needs Religious Freedom;” “Stop the HHS Mandate;” “Constitution guarantees Freedom of Religion“.
The rally will be held at the intersection of Old Country Road and Clinton Avenue in Garden City.
