A man is dead after getting into a fight with a gas station attendant in Queens.
Police were called to the Gulf station at Van Dam Street in Long Island City early Thursday morning.
When officers arrived, they say they found 28-year-old Oscar Arzeno unresponsive. He was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital where he died.
According to Jernail Singh, the gas station’s owner, Arzeno was intoxicated when he came in to use the ATM.
He said Arzeno became loud and abusive when he didn’t get any cash.
The attendant, identified as Jesse Singh, told him to go away and that’s when punches were thrown.
The owner said Jesse Singh was only defending himself.
“He don’t want to fight. He was inside. He said ‘go away,” Jernail Singh said. “He tried to get him to go away. He knocked the door, so he came out and he said ‘Listen, go away, you have no money in the bank. The ATM machine is working fine, there’s no problem with that.'”
Jesse Singh was taken into custody.
The investigation continues.
