QUEENS — When the cult favorite M. Wells Diner closed in Long Island City at the end of August, foodies across the city lamented the loss of its escargot and bone marrow, foie gras grilled cheese and tortilla espanola with duck testicles.

Now, Hugue Dufour and Sarah Obraitis, culinary tinkerers behind the wildly popular Quebecois restaurant, are coming back in May with the M. Wells Dinette at MoMA PS1, museum officials announced Thursday.

MoMA PS1 only gave a taste of the venture, stating, “While M. Wells Dinette will return the same quality and creativity to Long Island City that made M. Wells famous, Dufour will be introducing a new menu for the space.”

Further details of the menu and grand opening will be announced in the  “coming weeks,” officials said.

Klaus Biesenbach, director of MoMA PS1 and chief curator at large of MoMA, said that M. Wells was part of the museum’s “growing emphasis on presenting all aspects of contemporary practice,” adding food to contemporary art, performance, experimental architecture, music, fashion, and design.

Dufour and Obraitis are also planning a steakhouse in Long Island City, according to the New York Times.

The diner had closed over a reported rent dispute.
