A music teacher who founded the Long Island City Academy of Music operated a sex trafficking ring where he advertised minors on Backpage.com and attempted to solicit sex from an undercover agent, law enforcement sources said.
According to the U.S. Judge of the Southern District of New York Katherine Parker, Oliver Sohngen used the classified site Backpage to sell girls from the ages of 8 to 17 to men for sex. He also contacted other sex traffickers and paid money in return for sex acts with minors.
This operation was run from Sohngen’s home in the Bronx on Davidson Avenue from March 2013 through November 2013, according to the criminal complaint.
