The Titanic departing Queenstown.
The County Cork Association of New York will host a commemorative and fundraising event at the Cork Hall/ Bantry Bay Publick House, 33-01 Greenpoint Ave., Long Island City on Sunday, April 29.
The objectives of the event, according to the association, are to memorialize those passengers – lost and survivors – who boarded the Titanic at Cobh, then Queenstown, and to assist the Titanic 100 Cobh 2012 Committee with its fundraising endeavors.
Stated a release: Titanic 100 Cobh 2012 is an initiative by Cobh Town Council to commemorate the centenary of the Titanic tragedy and to memorialize the great ship and the people associated with her. The committee is hosting a year long series of commemorative events.
