The renovations should be nearly complete!
Remember when FD didn't even delivery to LIC? You had to trek over to that lame "pick up" window.

Well, time are changing. Now they deliver -- not just in those two tiny 3 hour windows all week -- but all week, every day.
LICNYC likes their pizzas.
A great site with reviews of wacky places to eat in Queens: Bridge and Tunnel Club.
LICNYC took a tip and checked out some crazy places these last few weeks:
- King Yum
- Koliba
- and East Banquet Hall in Flushing
Read our review of King Yum just below.

This is a fantastic article on cool stuff (50 different things) to do in Queens. A few of the things we already knew about, but others of them were a total surprise. For example, last weekend LICNYC tried King Yum (no. 1 on the list).
We would highly recommend it. The food was great. It is the second
oldest Chinese restaurant in New York City and a tiki bar to boot. In reading up about it, we discovered
that there is a website called critiki that catalogues tiki bars all over the world. King Yum has delicious
potent cocktails. The owner is a really sweet fellow who goes from table to table to chat with the
customers. They have karaoke on Wednesday and Friday nights. The decor seems unchanged since the 50s and is very authentic. Overall, a great excursion to take your friends from outside Queens on.
49 more things to boot!
When you are next contemplating a trip to the East, you may think 'man, that Hunterspoint LIRR is really useless'. We're talking spring 2007 most likely, but maybe you like fall weather in the Hamptons.
Well, the HP stop is indeed a bummer. Just a few departures between 4 and 6 pm on weekdays to get you to Oyster Bay or Huntington.
The real action is from Woodside.
Glamorous Woodside is 10 min from Court Square on the 7 train. About 5 stops. '61st street-Woodside' if you are big on map-reading.
But from there you can pretty much catch it all. About half the LIRR lines go through Woodside, and the rest through Jamaica - which you can connect to.
While there, watch out for all the Queensiness - more Dunkin Donuts than Starbucks, if you follow our meaning.
After a long era when 1 wine shop was enough for LIC...here comes the 4th in a year. At least this one is over nearer to Court Square. See the inset photo - the green realtor logo over the old print shop is the place. License in the works.
3 years ago, LIC was a solidly blue collar industrial neighborhood.
Hours: 6a-3p M-F
Shops: commercial services (insurance, lawyers, taxi, vehicle repair), diners, delis, bars (irish or sports).
Parking: busy all day, empty after
Infrastructure: warehouses, big flat industrial
1.5 years ago, the residential shift was on.
Shops: add delivery-oriented, informal yet hip restaurants, cafes
Hours: add weekend days
Parking: more Hondas on the streets on Sat AM
Infrastructure: lots of renovations happening to smallish commercial buildings
Now, the shift is on.
Shops: liquor stores galore, more restaurant/bars
Hours: add Friday and Sat night
Parking: same, not too many new people really
Infrastructure: big condos and offices going up
Next year: the big differences await!
